Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Congress President and former minister Ajay Rai launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that internal dissent against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reached its peak and is now visible even in official party events.
Rai said that the absence of the Chief Minister from the BJP’s Foundation Day programme, and his exclusion even from virtual participation, clearly indicates deep internal rifts and tensions within the party.
He further alleged that infighting within the BJP is adversely affecting the development of the state. According to him, the government has failed to deliver on key promises made to farmers, youth, women, and traders over the past several years. Claims of doubling farmers’ income, providing large-scale employment, and ensuring better law and order remain unfulfilled on the ground.
Highlighting recent incidents, Rai referred to police action against youth in Prayagraj and Lucknow, the ongoing issues faced by candidates in the 69,000 teacher recruitment process, and the struggles of employees linked to the Chief Minister’s helpline as examples of administrative failure.
On the issue of cow welfare, he criticized the government, citing a reported incident from Varanasi where stray cattle were allegedly in a distressing condition. He termed the situation alarming and blamed the state government for neglect.
Rai also announced that the Congress party will organize an advocates’ conference on the birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Phule. The event will be attended by Rajya Sabha MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi and senior advocate and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid.
Senior party leaders including Asif Rizvi Rinku, Anshu Awasthi, and Umashankar Pandey were also present at the press conference.
